WOOLPACK
Today’s game brought together two very
fierce rivals who with countless meetings, have had wins for both sides. This was a meeting of 2 Premier ‘A’ giants.
Gordon got the ball rolling for the
away side playing captain Paul of the Woolpack.
The Turtle Wax Kid started brightly but just couldn’t get the killer
blow in. Paul however was struggling
with pots, position and tactics and despite Gordon giving him 3 fouls the
Woolpack skipper was just unable to get himself going. When given a chance however Gordon took it.
0-1.

The Turtle Wax Kid is top of the averages
Mike looked comfortable from the start
of his frame and will be disappointed not to have won it from the off. But when one ball escaped his positional play
Capt. Chrome Dome found himself in trouble.
His opponent slowly crept into the frame and all of a sudden Mike was 2nd
in a 2 horse race. 1-1.
Ian could have lost his frame when he
failed to pot on the break (at least he kept the white up though!). Jamie from the Woolpack made some intelligent
pots and looked in control but Ian stayed resilient and refused to give
in. In a frame which really should have
gone to the home side it was the dogged resistance of the Tulip C vice Captain
that eventually won the frame. 1-2.
Glenn, under scrutiny of his girlfriend
and constant barracking from his teammates, played a game that will stay in his
memory for ages. Glenn went through 3
nicknames during the frame starting with the well-known Badger, to the slightly
lesser known Weasel before it settled and will remain forever more on
Wadger. But this didn’t stop him playing
some awesome pool. Although it wasn’t a
pot-fest Wadgers safety play, ability to escape from snookers and all over
tactics were a sight to behold. The
final black, a reverse double from bottom rail through a group of yellows to
kiss one perfectly & drop into the middle pocket……1-3.

Is it a bear? Is it a baby? No it’s a WADGER!!
Pete had a tough game and maybe should
have lost it without even getting a shot and it was an error from the home
player that got the Tulip man into the frame.
However Wicksy was always behind and had to really fight to get into the
frame but one safety too many gave the Woolpack player the chance he needed.
2-3
Craig got his first win of the season
against former team-mate Nigel. Cyclops
never looked like losing and he too will be annoyed not to have won it in one
visit. Nigel, although trying hard to
stop the Tulip man from having too easy a win, was always going to find it
tough going and it was fitting that Craig potted the black when escaping from a
snooker, running the white up and down the table. 2-4.

When he takes his glasses off Craig is transformed
into Cyclops
The match was over and done with in
game 7 when Rob made his first appearance for the Tulip C winter team made very
light work potting the black in his second visit to the table.
FINAL SCORE
WOOLPACK 2-5 TULIP ‘C’
