WEDNESDAY
25th JUNE 2008
AWAY
BLACK
BULL B
With last week’s dare I say it ‘disappointing’ draw
to the Flyer behind us, it was off to the Black Bull to see if we could get
back to winning ways. With Graham working late and both Craig and Waspy unavailable, Tam was dragged from his bed and Gordon
from his summer sabbatical.
Ian broke off in frame one but failed to pot.
However he was able to return to the table one shot later and immediately made inroads
into the frame potting 4 balls. After that the frame went tactical for half a
dozen or so shots until Ian had another chance and cleared his remaining
colours only to rattle the black. Once again Ian didn’t even have a chance to
sit down, when he returned to the table to finish the frame off and pot the
black 0 – 1
Frame two was won by Gordon without even breaking
sweat. Never looking in trouble Gordon sealed the victory with a nice 4 or 5 balls
run out. 0 – 2
The first 45’s of the evening was over quicker than
some singles games!!! This frame involving four players was only ever about one
player….. Keith. Within a few visits Keith had potted most of the balls,
claimed the win without Andy or the opponents getting a look in. 0 – 4
Trevor stepped up for frame four and failed to pot
from the break. The opponent then took control of the frame potting three
balls. Trevor replied potting a couple but just missed out rattling and leaving
a long pot. The Black Bull player then cleared the remainder of his balls but
he too rattled the black in the corner. Left with 5 balls to pot Trevor failed
to pot a fairly straight forward ball to the centre leaving an easy black for
his opponent. 1 – 4
In the next frame Tam’s opponent ran through the
balls quickly, however the last ball was awkward and tied up with the black and
the break was over. Tam then went on a tactical run of move, pot, snooker get
two shots etc until eventually he cleared all of the remaining balls. 1 – 5
Tam and Gordon played the middle 45’s and the game
was one where neither side managed to take a grasp of the frame. It boiled down
to the Tulip being stuck on 40 watching the opponent pot the last ball from a
rack to move them onto 43 with the break to come. One ball was potted from the
break, 44, but the Black Ball player was unable to find that last crucial pot.
Cometh the hour, cometh the Tam, five quality shots later, game over. 1 – 7
In the next game the only person who could have
beaten Andy, was Andy. He was never in danger of losing but still managed to
snooker himself going from last ball to black. Andy got out of the snooker and
a couple of shots later potted a fantastic pot taking the black from near the
middle pocket across to an opposite corner pocket using power to avoid the in off
to the middle. 1 – 8
The last singles was a tactical slog with Keith
making sure he wasn’t going to be beaten. A little while later he completed a
clearance ensuring that The Tulip had secured all the singles fra……Oh sorry they didn’t did they because Trevor fecked up and didn’t clear when he got the chance. LOL 1 –
9
The last 45’s was played by Ian and Trevor with Ian
taking the break and getting errr 2 or 3. Soon after
it was Trevor’s chance to make amends and he duly knocked in a reasonable
break. Without endangering the record books Ian and Trevor went on to take the
final game convincingly with Trevor just about achieving redemption potting 23
(27 don’t ask) balls. 1 – 11
