AWAY

BLUE LION

After the postponed game last week the Tulip team were keen to get back playing a competitive game and they don’t get much tougher than an away trip to the division leaders, The Blue Lion.

Both Ian and Andy won the opening two singles games with Ian getting a confidence boost and Andy making a fantastic clearance including a monster black along the rail. 0 – 2

Trevor and Tam played the first 45’s and with some steady but not great break building soon reached the requisite 45 to complete the travelling Tulip team’s great start. 0 – 4

Unfortunately Tam was unable to continue the winning start. In a frame that could have gone either way, the first big chance Came when the Blue Lion player fouled and left Tam a foul snooker. Picking the ball up Tam looked like he would clear however it all went wrong leaving the opponent an easy last ball pot followed soon after by the black. 1 – 4

Keith then got things back on track with a very large clearance when others may have thought a safety was in order. 1 – 5

Keith then partnered Ian for the second 45’s and once again steady break but not great break building won the day with Ian potting the Lions share. Now is your confidence back Ian? 1 – 7

The wheels then definitely fell off the wagon with the last two singles and the remaining 45’s were all won by the home side. Trevor lost the first singles despite some great attempts to get back into the frame. Waspy rattled the black in a black ball game and Waspy and Andy were given little chance when their opponents opening break put them 27 behind. 5 – 7

The noticeable difference tonight was the lack of support around the table which is unusual for us. It does seem that we tend to score heavier when the whole team is watching / supporting the player at the table. Obviously the summer is just for fun but nearly every player has expressed a deep desire to win this division. Surely we are at our strongest and would give ourselves a great chance of achieving this if we do what we do best, support the player at the table.
