PREMIER
A
AWAY
TULIP B
A local derby between 2 sides that haven’t always
seen eye to eye. The 2 sides have met on
several occasions including last season where the score line for this fixture
finished at 2-9 in favour
of the Tulip ‘C’ but in the return fixture it was the ‘B’ team who ran out 5-6 winners.
Saz opened the night for the ‘C’ team and
was very unlucky not to have got the win.
Potting well and keeping her adversary from making any real inroads into
the game she was very unfortunate to make an excellent pot then watch in dismay
as the cue ball cannoned off a yellow and fly into the top pocket. The resulting 2 visits gave the Tulip ‘B’ a
1-0 lead.
Waspy levelled the scores in the next frame
however in another of his potting frenzy frames. The frame seemed to be over
before it really began. 1-1.
Glenn, fresh from having lost to Ian
7-3 in their in house league match, got himself back in the winning frame of
mind and cruised to an easy victory to put the away side in front. 1-2.
However it was a lead short lived as
Gordon once again seemed to be lacking in concentration. The Turtle Wax Kid
made a great start to the frame but just couldn’t capitalise on it. Running out of position he had to chase the
balls around the table and was eventually beaten. 2-2.
But once again the Tulip ‘C’ went into
overdrive and with Rob making hard work of his frame but getting the point,
Craig charging through the reds, the slow, steady dependable skipper Mike
catching the monkey before Trevor having to put up with heckling from the
opposition before shutting them up by potting the black, the match was over
before the doubles began.
But the doubles were a different matter
entirely. Waspy & Glenn should have won from the
break, and again on their next 2 visits to the table, but they made things
overly complicated and with a bit of a blase attitude
found themselves losing valuable the point.
Trevor & Craig did get the point for the C side in a very one sided
encounter but Rob squandered another excellent chance to take the third and he
& his partner Mike also found
themselves losing a frame they should have won.
