THE
BELL
A top of the table clash again, with
the Tulip ‘C’ travelling to Ingatestone to play the Bell. Only 3 points
separate the 2 teams with the Tulip side in 2nd place and the Bell
in 3rd. A good friendly match
was on the cards with banter coming from both sides, and after a brief warm-up
for the Tulip side so they could check for an uneven table the match began.
MJ started proceedings but was never
really given any chance to get into the frame as his opponent made 2 decent
breaks to give the home side an early lead. 1-0.
Glenn levelled the scores in a frame
that could have gone either way. The
early chance fell to the badger but he couldn’t capitalise. His opponent then missed his chance before
Glenn made sure of the point. 1-1.
Things went down
hill for the Tulip team after this with Jamie, Waspy
& Craig all losing in close run frames that again could have gone either
way. Ian made a slight return to form to get a point back before Gordon missed
an excellent chance to finish. 5-2.
Trevor, under a barrage of threats to
make him run naked around the table, almost had to repeat the performance
before he was given a chance to get into the frame. Trevor made life difficult
for his opponent with some decent safety shots before he was offered a chance
to clear. It was an offer that the Tulip player took gratefully. 5-3.
But the fight back was very short lived
with MJ & his brother Jamie crashing out in a
frame they had in the bag, Jamie missing a relatively simple black after a good
clearance.
Trevor & Glenn got to the black
first but a wayward shot from Glenn gave away a foul and the home side took
full advantage.
Ian & Craig also got to the black
first but a poor positional shot from Ian left him with a do or die black. He died!
