BLUE LION

A top of the table clash began the 2nd half of the summer league with the Blue Lion playing host to the only team to have beaten them so far in the league, the Tulip ‘C’. The Lion began the night just 1 point ahead of the Tulip ‘C’ and both sides could boast having only lost 1 match so far. The travelling side were without MJ who was absent due to work commitments and Ian was only available for the first game as he was also working a night shift.

It was Ian & Glenn who got the ball rolling playing a 45’s instead of singles due to Ian having to leave early. The pair got the travelling side off to a good start with Ian making an impressive 37 points & Glenn the other 8.  Neither player made any fouls.

Tam was on fire and should have won from the break but for a rattled 6th red. His opponent made a comeback but failed on his last ball giving Tam the chance to finish.

Mike played a stormer as he replaced Ian in his singles, potting a fabulous black to give the Tulip ‘C’ side a comfortable 4-0 lead.

But it was a lead that Waspy was unable to increase in his singles but did so in his 45’s with Tam. Tam making a fabulous 30 break on his first visit to the table before making a nonchalant cut to bring his run to an end.  Waspy managed 9 points and Tam a further 6 to give the match to the home side.

Bonus points were now the order of the day for the travelling side as the Blue Lion team could only wonder at where the match was going on their brand new table!

Gordon won his frame by default with his opponent potting black & white & Glenn blasted his way through his frame giving his opponent no chance with an 8 ball clearance that hopefully gives Glenn the confidence he needs to produce the form he is capable of. Certainly the punched air around Glenn’s head will know how important the win was for the Tulip ‘C’ man.

At 1-8 the Blue Lion side dropped the bombshell that they didn’t have a 6th player, much to the disgust of stand in Tulip ‘C’ Captain Trevor who had saved himself for last! This meant that the final 3 points were forfeited.

FINAL SCORE

BLUE LION 1 - 11 TULIP ‘C’
