PREMIER A

AWAY

BOREHAM SC

After last week’s defeat the Tulip ‘C’ team were looking to regain the ground lost on the league table against a team who are currently sitting mid-table.  However what they received was a reality-check in underestimating Premier A sides.  Missing from the squad for the night were Jamie, who is now unlikely to be returning from Ireland, Peter, working late and Tam, unwell with shingles (get well soon mate).

The first three singles were over before anybody had chance to blink with Waspy, Glenn then Ian, having only one or two visits to the table before witnessing fabulous clearances from the home side. 0-3.

MJ pulled one back when he made a great clearance but made an unfortunate foul on his last ball.  His opponent responded in similar fashion but it was the Tulip man who made it to the black first.  In fluky snookers the score in the frame was 2-2 but MJ finished the frame off when his opponent failed to hit a cushion, MJ used the 2 visits to get the first point of the night for the travelling side. 3-1.

Craig had chances in his frame but failed to call a total snooker and a foul was called despite the Tulip man escaping using 2 cushions. Craig was allowed back at the table however but was under pressure all the way.  He did managed to clear most of his balls but a hugely under-hit shot gifted position to the home side and it was game over. 4-1.

Trevor came down the order in an attempt to get the Tulip side back into the match and he looked comfortable until his adversary made another good clearance out of nothing for the home side. 5-1.

Gordon was in total control of his frame but fortune favours the brave and when the home player attempted to clear the pocket Gordon was holding he not only managed to clear it but also put Gordon’s last ball safe but also all 3 of his balls over different pockets. The Turtle Wax Kid however made a great pot on the last ball but just couldn’t get to the black.  This time it was a fairly simple clearance for the home player. 6-1.

Mike had the task of damage limitation and he completed it comfortably.  His last 2 balls needed a mid-range cannon but the skipper never looked uncomfortable in making it. 6-2.

The first 2 doubles took a long time due to tactical play from all sides.  Trevor & Gordon and MJ & Glenn both lost after lengthy battles and Mike & Craig also lost but in a much shorter timescale.

FINAL SCORE

BOREHAM SC 9 – 2 TULIP ‘C’
