Match Report

MONDAY 5TH MARCH 2007

PREMIER A

AWAY

COMPASSES ‘B’

With these 2 teams battling for 2nd place in the league a tough match was to be expected, however what occurred was to be a nightmare for the Tulip ‘C’. It wasn’t a case of bad luck for the travelling side or, a case of luck for the home side, it was good quality pool.  Many of the games could have gone either way but the Compasses took their chances when the Tulip boys failed to do so.  Singles loses for Waspy, Glenn, Craig, Pete, Trevor, Tam & Mike meant that Jamie’s win was overshadowed.  Ian & Craig gave the Tulip side some credibility but further loses for Glenn & Jamie and Trevor & Gordon gave a score-line of 9-2 which really flattered the home side.

With the chance of second place now all but eliminated for the Tulip side it’s a chance now to reflect on how the season has gone.  There are many positives to take out of the season as it’s been a good learning curve for many of the players.  Waspy, Glenn, Gordon & MJ have never played at this level before and Mike, Ian, Craig & Pete have only had one or two seasons in the past to call upon.  This team has worked its way up from div 4 to challenging for the Premier A title in 5 years and that’s no mean feat.

So the pressure is now off and we can now use the last 2 matches against the Woolpack and Boreham social to prepare for the cup games.  We’re still in the Essex Trophy, 9-Aside as well as having the Divisional Cup to challenge for.

FINAL SCORE

COMPASSES ‘B’ 9 - 2 TULIP ‘C’
