MONDAY 1ST DECEMBER 2008
PREMIER A
AWAY
Q BALL B
Last week we beat the Compasses 8 3
and hoped that we could reproduce the same kind of form again. Things could not
have got off to a worse start with both Gordon and then Andy losing the first
two frames, neither player getting much of a look in. 2 0.
MJ, free from work for a change,
stepped up for the third frame. This frame also looked a lost cause but the
Q-ball player failed to pot the black leaving MJ a long pot to give him a
chance of the frame. Alas he was showing signs of rustiness and missed by quite
some
but wait
..and through the angles the ball went
back to the baulk end and found a pocket LOL
. The black was duly despatched
and the score was 2 1.
That was probably the most important
frame of the night. From 2 1 rather than 3 0 we seemed to go up a gear.
Rob and Ian won the next two frames
with a nice clearance by Rob in his frame. 2 3.
Craig will be kicking himself after
clearing well only to miss a simple black. 3 3
Trevor made a good clearance to win his
frame and Pete followed suit in his. 3 5
Skip then took court with a couple of
players and picked his pairings.
First pair up was Ian and Craig who
made sure of the win for the Tulip. In the same game they also beat their own
consultation record for one shot by some considerable margin. I would like to
say that it is unlikely to be surpassed but I feel sure that they will try next
time out ;-). 3 6
Trevor and Andy took the next doubles
with Andy taking the honours making a fine 5 ball plus
black clearance. 3 7
Alas Pete and Rob were unable to put
the final gloss on the match and the final frame was lost. 4 7
All in all another good week but frame
3 was definitely a huge frame. It would have been tough to win from 3 0 down
as heads do drop and its hard to get the momentum going. But we had a bit of
good fortune and we did not let it go to waste. Furthermore, the grapevine says that both the Flyer
and the Compasses lost so we could be up to third!!
