PREMIER A
AWAY
RED LION
Always a tough venue for the Tulip ‘C’
and one that has a habit of going pear shaped for them. But victory here during the summer league for
the Tulip ‘C’ and their current good run of form had given the guys confidence,
in what is possibly one of the worst playing area’s in the league.
But it was Waspy who got the first
point of the night in a game that almost got away from him. His opponent was first on the black but was
unable to make it count and when given a chance, Waspy grabbed it with both
hands. 0-1.
Glenn doubled the lead with another
good potting display after taking an initial lead. His opponent managed to put the Badger under
pressure but made the mistake of deliberate fouling. Glenn took his chance with an excellent pot
on the black. 0-2.
Gordon’s winning streak came to an end
but not without a fight. Looking comfortable to begin with Gee was pegged into
a tactical battle and a slightly over-hit snooker attempt gave the Red Lion man
a chance which he failed on the black.
Gordon left with long pot on his last yellow almost won but a rattle in
the jaws put paid to his run of wins. 1-2.
New signing Pete Wicks made played a
good tactical, if somewhat pot rusty, game and earned a win on his debut for
the Tulip C. 1-3.
Ian looked very uncomfortable and
really should have cleared from his first visit but just couldn’t get his
potting game going. However when he was
presented with an opportunity he made some decent pots to win the frame. 1-4.
Craig appears to be a bit table rusty too and never really got started in his
frame. His opponent made all the plays
but it was Craig who potted the black illegally to gift the frame to the Red
Lion. 2-4.
Trevor had an untidy pack to work
through in his frame but was never really put under any real pressure and
cruised through to put the away side on the brink of victory. 2-5.
A
victory just about put to bed by skipper Mike who had a major scare against a
very promising player for the future. The 14 year
old almost gave Mike a scare but inexperience of top-level pool showed through
and the wily Captain Chrome Dome got the point that gave the travelling side
the match. 2-6.
Trevor & Waspy extended the teams
lead with little effort and made light work of the home teams attempts to play
safety. 2-7.
They did however get a consolation
point with Glenn attempting an audacious swerve pot but snookering himself on
his last object ball after his partner Gordon had put the pairing into a strong
position. Failing to escape the snooker
and fouling the pair lost to a good finish from the 14 year old. 3-7.
Mike & Ian looked in control of the
last frame but won by default when the home side attempted a double, clattered
into and potted the black.
