Match Report

MONDAY 6th NOVEMBER 2006

PREMIER A

Away

TULIP ‘B’

Chelmsford’s top flight pool division it may be, but this match was all about local pride.  2 years ago these 2 teams met in Prem B and it was the B team that earned the bragging rights with a 7-4 win. But on current form it had to be said the Tulip C were the favourites.

MJ started the night off for the away side but struggled to find consistency in his positions.  But even so when he was given his chance to open the scoring he took it.  0-1.

Gordon is still in rampant form with his new cue and cruised through his frame never really looking like being a loser. 0-2.

But a good start had to come to an end eventually but it was a surprising loss for Jamie, his first for the Tulip C.  Even though he had chances, Jamie’s opponent made some excellent shots to shut the big guy out and score the home teams first point 1-2.

Glenn’s form is very consistent however and he was back into scoring points with another cool, calm performance.  However we saw a different game than his normal one, this time with Glenn favouring the goalkeeping style of covering pockets! 1-3.

Craig was forced to work for his point being left with 3 balls sitting pretty but one surrounded by opponents colours.  At one point Craig looked to have lost the frame when his adversary exploded into a frenzy of pots but failed to get them all.  Craig was now in a position to finish off but a poor positional shot forced him into making a tactical shot.  His opponent completely missed a ball and gifted the Tulip C man 2 visits and consequently the frame. 1-4.

Trevor made it 1-5 shortly after with another round of perfectly executed pots.

Tam wrapped the win up with one singles left to play with another frame of tactical play and potting prowess. 1-6.

Mike however just missed out when he rattled his last red in the jaws.  His opponent then taking advantage of a clear table to polish off his remaining 3 balls and the black. 2-6.

Waspy got his first taste of action for the night pairing with Trevor in the first doubles.  Trevor broke off and should really have cleared from the break.  Waspy got his one and only shot attempting a long pot to the top which rattled but sat near the pocket. Trevor secured the point on his next visit. 2-7.

Ian had his one and only shot, the break, which he scuffed off the pack and sent the white flying into the pocket.  The B team managed to pot 5 balls before giving Gordon a go at the table.  8 shots by the Turtle Wax Kid and it was all over. 2-8.

Glenn & Tam finished the night off with a win and it was the Tulip C team that are now allowed bragging rights in the pub.
