PREMIER A
HOME
Q-BALL ‘A’
The first home game of the season for the Tulip C
saw them face the Q-Ball ‘A’. With their
away form so promising having won the last 4 cup games all away from home the
Tulip side were in a confident mood.
That mood was not too last however!
Ian opened the night with other things on his mind
and soon became very apparent he was not on top of his game. Although it looked like he wouldn’t get a
shot from the start Ian did his usual come back routine and was first to the
black. But poor positional play meant he
was chasing the finish, and when his opponent was given a chance he took it.
0-1
Saz playing on her debut game showed she has real
promise despite being very table rusty.
Her potting was good and she used her considerable assets to put her
opponent off and came away with the win. 1-1.
Gordon’s excellent run of form saw him dominate his
frame. Although G himself though he was
fortunate to win it, from the side lines he looked comfortable, composed and
confident potting the black passed a very tight yellow to win the frame. 2-1.
However things turned sour after that for the home
side. First Pete failed to convert his
chances then a very much out of sorts Craig missed chances he would normally
take. Rob ran out of position and was
punished for it before Trevor stood on the sidelines as his opponent cleared
from the break. Mike needed to win to
keep the home side in the fight but was never really given much chance to get
going. This meant that the match was
lost before the doubles with a 2-6 score line.
The doubles however looked a bit more promising,
with Craig & Ian capitalising on errors from their opponent and a good
piece of tactical play from Craig. Ian,
despite potting the black was still not looking confident at all. Rob & Gordon looked like a decent
partnership as they cruised through their frame and this could be a partnership
to keep an eye on over the season, but Pete & Trevor will be disappointed
not to have taken the chances that presented themselves. Trevor although on the losing side in both
his singles and doubles, was never really given any chances to show his quality
and will be looking to bouncing back next week away to the Blue Lion.
