BULL ‘A’
A
team always up for a laugh but who are under-achieving this season were the
guests at the Tulip this week. With
images of Trevor running round the table with his trousers off in the away
fixture still firmly embedded in everyone’s mind it was a match of table
toppers Vs division droppers. The last
meeting saw the Tulip ‘C’ romp away with a very comfortable 10-1 win, but could
they repeat the performance on home ground?
Glenn
didn’t get the match off to a positive start.
The Badger began brightly but ended up getting bogged down in a nip
& tuck frame with his opponent holding all the key positions. And with Glenn just unable to find any safety
shot the Black Bull’s captain cruised through to take the first point. 0-1.
Waspy
should have made the score-line 0-2 and was very much out of sorts. With both
players on the black and the Black Bull’s player playing the shot it looked
curtains for Waspy. However she failed to make the pot but did succeed in
potting the white, and with ball in hand and 2 visits
on the black, Waspy took full advantage. 1-1.
Peter
racked up only his second win since joining the Tulip ‘C’. Playing with a bad shoulder, Wicksy still looked comfortable as he coasted through his
reds before potting an easy black to put the home side in front. 2-1.
Somehow
Ian increased the lead to 3-1 despite playing probably the worst frame he’s
played all season! Missing pots he could
normally make with his eyes shut, Bluetooth battled through playing a more
defensive game than his normal aggressive one.
Tam,
finally making an appearance after a good few weeks missing was in no mood to
be nice. The Big Jock stormed through the balls on his first visit and could
have cleared up from the break. However with his opponents balls all sitting on
the cushion Tam was never in any danger of losing to the man who made Trevor
streak in the last meeting of these two teams. 4-1.
Craig
and his opponent both fell foul to an un-level table before the Black Bull
player produced a nice clearance with Craig never really able to get into full
swing. 4-2.
Gordon
also whizzed through the balls but was just not granted any real clear-cut
chance on the black. His opponent
concentrating on pots rather than any tactical ability left Gordon very few
chances to get the telling shot and when given his chance took it. 4-3.
Trevor
proved just too good for his opponent despite a late scare. Cruising through his balls Trevor always
looked in control of the table without even being at his best. But a foul on the black gifted his opponent 2
visits with only 2 yellows on the table.
Fortunately for Trevor the Black Bull player couldn’t make his chance
count and a good long pot on the black gave the points to the home side. 5-3.
Trevor
and Tam had the first doubles wrapped up only to snatch defeat from the hands
of victory, both players guilty of missing long pots that would have given them
the frame. 5-4.
Ian
& Craig’s partnership continues to produce results, but this week was a complete
reversal of last week, Craig this time making the pots, with Ian providing the
safety play. Craig won the match with an
audacious treble on the black after a neat little clearance. 6-4.
Mike
& Gordon finished the night with a home win after a long drawn out tactical
game that was never going to be won by the away side, despite concerted
attempts by both Mike & Gordon to gift them the point.
FINAL SCORE
TULIP ‘C’ 7-4 BLACK BULL ‘A’
