BOREHAM SC

The last three weeks have been good for the Tulip ‘C’ and we hoped this recent form would continue for the last league fixture of the season. If we could win this last game it would give us some momentum going into the three cup competitions in the forthcoming weeks.

Frame one didn’t start well with Gordon giving away two shots from the break as only 3 balls hit the cushion. The Boreham player then took control of the frame potting several balls. Eventually, after a few visits each, the Boreham player cleared to the black only to rattle the final ball. This presented Gordon with a half chance but alas the recent exceptional form deserted him and he left the Boreham player with a simple pot. 0 – 1

In frame two the Boreham player won the toss, broke, cleared to the black but failed to get any position and subsequently missed the black. MJ potted a few balls and then laid a snooker. The Boreham player failed to hit the black and with the two shots MJ cleared the table. 1 – 1

Waspy went up for frame three and despite some good shots the frame was eventually won by the Boreham player.    1 – 2

Frame 4 was one of those where chances were going to both players but neither could get a hold of the game. Eventually Ian (The Cat) having used about 5 lives, that’s how many we counted, grasped a chance and took the frame. 2 – 2

In frame 5 Andy had a dry break and both players then had a couple of visits without anyone looking favourite. Then the Boreham player with some excellent potting cleared to the black only to find himself snookered. He then played a good escape to leave Andy the option to go for it or play safe. Andy opted for the latter but unfortunately was unable to cover the black and the frame was won by the Boreham player. 2 – 3

Craig steeped up for frame 6 and whilst initially the frame was in the balance, Craig fouled and his opponent took fall control. Although Craig did get one more visit it was to no avail and the frame was lost. 2 – 4

The Boreham SC had only travelled with 6 players so frames 7 and 8 were walkovers for Rob and Trevor. 4 – 4

Craig and Trevor stepped up for the first doubles and never looked like losing. However when given 2 shots Trevor cleared all remaining balls to the black with 2 shots still in hand. Trying to lay the black up Trevor under hit it leaving the black on the cushion with a nasty little cut for the pot. The home team need not have worried as the black was despatched no problem (wipes sweat of forehead) 5 – 4

The remaining two doubles pairings of Waspy & Rob and Ian & MJ both lost in frames that the Tulip players never really had a chance. 5 – 6

So there it is, we always seem to struggle playing Boreham SC and it proved so once again despite being given two free frames. Still we must keep our spirits high and go in to the cup games hopefully with the form showed in the previous 3 weeks.
