MONDAY 30th OCTOBER 2006
PREMIER A
HOME
FLYER B
Confidence high, the Tulip C entered what was
expected to be their toughest match to date with the Flyer B the
visitors. A team with a long history at
Premier A level and with many accolades to their credit this was always going
to be billed as a top fight. Could the
Tulip C pull of a huge coup and make their run of match wins in singles
continue to a fourth consecutive time?
Not off to a great start however with Waspy losing
despite some excellent tactical play.
However the Tulip man was always onto a loser when his opponent put the
black into the jaws and Waspy having his remaining balls around that very
pocket. But it took an error by the home
player to give the Flyer team the point. 0-1.
Ian failed to make any real impression in his frame
and looks like hes settling into a poor run of form. What he would consider to be a fairly simple
covering shot turned sour and gifted his opponent a tricky (but at this level
fairly obvious) clearance. 0-2.
Trevor also fell foul to a self made error after
making a very impressive clearance the Tulip man missed an awkward cut on his
last ball and gave his opponent 2 visits to the table. But it still took the travelling player
several attempts and a few snookers to secure the point. 0-3.
Craig also failed to make any real impression on
his frame but would still consider himself unlucky to
lose. 0-4.
Things were looking very grim for the home side until
Glenn popped up with some fantastic pots.
A man very much in form at the moment, Glenn looked calm &
comfortable but still had to work hard for his point. 1-4.
However the fight-back was short lived with Gordon
only losing due to a rattled long pot.
It looked like the Turtle Wax Kid was going to pull off a great
clearance and one he would have had to work very hard for, but a long pot that
seemed bound for the pockets just caught the jaw, rattled around and came out
again. With his opponents balls all
sitting nicely; it was another point to the Flyer B. 1-5.
Mike again found the middle bag with the black and
2 other object balls as he continues to dispel the myth he cannot pot in
them. The skipper is in a rich vein of
form at present and another victory today kept the home side in the match. 2-5.
However Tams misfortune despite his excellent cue
ball control appears to continue. Tam
made an excellent pot and split the pack open to allow him to pot his last 2
balls. But the run of the baize was not
on his side as his opponents ball sat right in the way of his next pot. Tam had to make a safety shot but again the
run of the table went the way of the travelling side and a lucky pot set the
Flyer man on the way to victory. 2-6.
Having had the tables turned on them the Tulip C
side went into the doubles having already lost the match and it was a question
of damage limitation and extra points.
But Ian & Craig failed to rise to the challenge with Ian again proving
to be the weakest link, missing out on a safety shot and the table gifting the
opposition 2 visits. They only needed 1
to secure the point. 2-7.
Mike & Trevor gained a consolation point for
the home team before Glenn & Tam again found themselves up against
misfortune and a final point for the flyer.
