PREMIERE A

QBALL A

Last time out we were given a lesson in pool by a very strong Chelmsford Pool Club. This week we were looking to bounce back and chalk up our first win in the league this season.

Up first was Ian. The frame seemed to just drift through without either player managing to take control until there were two balls left for both players. The Q Ball player tried to lay a snooker but missed and left Ian a chance to the middle. Rolling the ball gently so as to get good position on the last ball, Ian could only watch as the ball drifted by half a pocket and missed. That was the last time Ian got to the table as the Q Ball player cleared. 0 – 1

Andy stepped up for frame two and things didn’t start well with Andy giving away two shots early in the frame. His opponent cleared to two balls but lets Andy back in. Andy then clears to last colour but misses the cross double to the middle. The Q Ball player clears his last two but misses the black. Andy pots his last ball but does not get good position on the black. Not to worry, he just pots a long double to the corner pocket!! 1 – 1

Gordon had first bite in frame three and potted two balls. The Q Ball player replied clearing five balls. After a few more visits each, the Q Ball player pots his sixth ball but is snookered on the last. He plays a DF but Gordon was up to the task and made good his clearance. 2 – 1

Mike decided to play himself next and after being in control of the frame will rue his missed rail shot on his last ball. His opponent didn’t falter as he cleared the table to bring the match back level. 2 – 2

The following frames saw the Tulip players go into overdrive. With Pete, Tam, Craig and Trevor all winning their singles with some quality play, the singles were complete with the Tulip side holding a 6 – 2 advantage.

With the match won it was a question of how many, if any, bonus points we could muster.

Things started well enough with Trevor and Tam taking the first doubles. 7 – 2.

Pete and Rob paired up for the middle doubles. The frame will be long remembered for an under pressure six ball clearance by Rob. 8 – 2

Unfortunately, Andy and Gordon were unable to put the icing on the cake and lost the final frame. 8 – 3.

All in all it was a very good performance which will hopefully give us something to build on.

FINAL SCORE

TULIP ‘C’ 8 - 3 Q BALL ‘A’
