A Champion team were the visitors to the Tulip in the first league game of the
2006/7 campaign, The Q Ball A, the team Jamie left to join his brother at the
Tulip C. Jamie himself was absent for this match due to having a darts
competition & Craig also missing due to work commitments, so it was an
under-strength home side that would take the fight on.
Ian started his league
season with a win but Waspy was unable to follow suit. Trevor got the
home side back in front, playing in an earlier position which the captains
decided on in order to improve the opening order This
was to hopefully reduce the amount of 0-3 starts that the Tulip C side appeared
to suffer with last season. But things still didn't go according to plan
and the crash quickly set in with MJ, Glenn, Gordon
& Tam all failing to register wins. Mike however managed to keep the
home side in the match winning his frame to make the scores 3-5 to the Q Ball A
at the end of the singles.
The home side rallied
together and with the trusty partnership of the 2 Trevors winning, the scores
became even tighter. The match was on a knife-edge after MJ & Tam
equalised the scores at 5-5 that left Mike & Glenn having a chance to
snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Unfortunately Mike snookered
himself on the black and a foul gifted the win to the Q Ball A.
