TULIP ‘B’
Having recovered a bit of form last week despite narrowly
losing away at the Flyer could we continue to improve in a local derby against
the Tulip ‘B’ team. These games are usually good battles with the C team
usually coming out on top. The night got off to a good start when Saz, with the
aid of one or two fortunate kisses developing the black, managed to take the
first frame. Things were looking even better when both Rob then Ian both won
their games. Pete was then involved in a very long tactical game, no shock
there, and somehow turned a can’t possibly win
situation into a win. I think Pete may have also thanked his opponent for his
failure to take the balls out when it seemed he could not miss. Craig’s win
then put the C side within one frame of victory with the score line at 5 – 0.
Alas, Mike could not quite do enough to win his frame and the B side had their
first frame of the night. Would this be the start of a comeback? Were the
wheels about to fall off our wagon? Not if Gordon and Jamie had anything to do
with it. Gordon won his frame first with not one but TWO doubles to middle
pockets on his last two balls to set up an easy black. This boys carrying a bit
of form I’ll tell ya. Jamie then completed the
singles with some impressive potting to leave us 7 – 1 up. Could we really nail
this one and post a big score?
The doubles started well enough with Craig and
Trevor winning their game. Yes Craig and Ian are having a trial separation LOL.
So could Ian improve on his recent doubles form with his new partner for the
night Jamie? This is what Ian wrote on my notes for their game
WTF!!?
Guess they lost then. Never mind mate there’s a few
more partners to try ;-)
Gordon and Rob then took the last frame to end an
emphatic win for the C team.
